Crux Of The Story
- AMD Next GPUs top-of-the-line variant RX 8800XT details revealed.
- The GPU will enter mass production in mid-December with performance similar to RTX 4080 with lower power consumption.
- Meanwhile, it will compete with RTX 5070 which is expected to have 6400 CUDA cores.
While we already talked about Nvidia launching the next-gen Blackwell GPUs, AMD also gearing up for the launch of RDNA 4 GPUs.AMD Radeon RX 8000 series will be RDNA 4 GPUs.
While there are already some rumors about these GPUs, a new report has been leaked by a Chinese leaker Zhangzhonghao on the Chiphell forum. This report sheds light on the information related to RX 8800XT. The GPU will enter mass production in mid-December. Given today is Dec 2, so there are only a few weeks remaining. If it’s true, the previous leak of these GPUs launching in Q1 2025 held reliable.
Moreover, the leaker said that RX 8800XT will be at the top of the lineup though he mentioned that Team Red might change the name for this product. However, the GPU will be power-friendly, as it costs significantly less power than RX 7900XTX, around 25 percent less. Given the power consumption of 350W, this GPU might end up asking for something around 250W.
Furthermore, there is also a big leap in Ray tracing performance, as it is found to be 45 percent better Ray tracing than RX 7900XT in Resident Evil 4 Remake, and it’s not exclusive to this title, as various other titles also end up having similar results.
Conclusively, the performance aligns with RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 Super, which is pretty impressive given its lower power consumption than these GPUs. It’s really interesting to see the competition between AMD RX 8800XT and RTX 5070, which is expected to feature 6400 CUDA cores.
Nevertheless, RDNA 4 is advertised by AMD as having better AI and Ray tracing abilities, so these leaks prove that AMD is working on its promises.
