After the cancellation of many live service titles, fans are wondering about PlayStation’s future plans. However, we have found that PlayStation is working on a new IP based on the action genre, and the company aims to deliver the title to a class-leading level.
This was spotted by a Lead Tech Artist job listing at PlayStation Studio. The listing says that the developer will work on developing a class-leading action game, which suggests it will be an action title. Meanwhile, the listing says that the game universe will be built from scratch. This implies that it is not a sequel or spinoff of an existing franchise; instead, it will be an entirely new IP.
“Most importantly, you will work with a fun, diverse, and passionate cross-discipline team devoted to building a new universe from scratch.”
Listing Says
However, the job listing does not provide more details on the subgenre of the IP. Hence, it could be an action-adventure or action-RPG title.

The requirements of the job listing require experience in developing visuals and performance on multiple platforms, including console and PC, which also suggests that this will be a multiplatform title.
Elsewhere, the details highlight that the project is still in the early phase of development. Hence, this game is still years away from its completion.
However, it is good to see that PlayStation looks ambitious for the title given it is aiming to make it a class-leading title even in the initial phase of development.
Meanwhile, the new IP will be based on Unreal Engine 5, and PlayStation is working on creating tools to create high-fidelity visuals with performance optimization as well.
That said, fans are complaining that the PlayStation does not have many IPs this generation, as there are only Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2 set to release this year.
