Although AAA gaming has a vast fanbase, mobile gaming is not far behind in terms of fanbase and reports also claim that mobile gaming yields half of the gaming revenue, which has led various AAA companies like Xbox to dive into the industry.
However, today MPL provided us with unprecedented research on the most popular mobile games in 2024, and we found some astounding results from the research. Based on 75000 players’ reviews, it is found that even top mobile games like Candy Crush Saga, Subway Surfer, and others left players unsatisfied with the game experience.
The research was conducted on the most popular mobile games in 2024 on Play Store, including Candy Crush Saga, Talking Tom, Free Fire, Subway Surfer, and Ludo King. With millions of fanbases, these games still don’t focus on users’ feedback, as they are plagued with issues from core gameplay experience to technical issues and much more.
Technical problems are the most common issues among all these mentions, which require the developers’ keen attention, given it has overwhelming negative reviews from users, with around 65-89% negative feedback.
A user pointed out the crash issue of Ludo King.
Good to play except the app keeps crashing my phone. Be helpful if you could fix that. Edited my review to 1 star. This game would be good if it would run properly but it doesn’t. Consistently crashes no matter what I do. A colossal waste of time unfortunately.
Other Users decribed technical issue in Subway Surfer.
This is a five-star game all the way. But I do have one tiny problem. Sometimes whenever I play the game, I avoid certain power-ups (like the magnet and shoes) on purpose. It would be cool if you automatically requested a power-up or just pressed the screen while running and it says choose your power-up. Otherwise, this is a great game and I suggest you play it.

The game was working fine until recently it started having these huge lag spikes so I thought maybe I should uninstall it and then reinstall, so i did but when I came to connect to my Google or Facebook account to get my data back it didn’t connect…. So now I cant get my data back which had a lot of progress btw (bear in mind this was my 4th time starting over because the backup system wasnt implemented a few years ago)

Apart from technical issues, players also show negative sentiment over other issues like Monetization as extensive ads display yield over 90% negative sentiment for Ludo King. Timely updates also matter to gamers, and Subway Surfer was impressive in this domain satisfying over 44% of fans, while Candy Crush failed hardly here, getting 70% negative reviews. In the core gameplay experience, Ludo King was unable to make changes to its overall game design, as players complained of the repetitive mechanics, while fairness was also a concern for players in the game.
All in all, numbers are not the only metric developers should aim for, given player satisfaction guarantees retention. The other small developers should benefit from these elements to make their games satisfy all the users’ needs to stand out in the competition.
Nevertheless, the trends of mobile gaming are also subject to change. Various AAA studios are now releasing their titles on mobile. Franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil, and others have already adopted the change, with their releases like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil Village.
