GTA And Red Dead Online Servers Limited Following DDOS Attack

GTA Online DDOS

While BattlEye anti-cheat is the ultimate solution for getting rid of cheaters in multiplayer games, and many games already have this service, such as Escape From Tarkov, Rainbow Six Siege, and others, the inclusion of this system caused trouble for Rockstar.

Rockstar recently implemented BattlEye anti-cheat to GTA 5, and what resulted with this inclusion is a DDOS attack on Both Rockstar’s biggest titles, GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption Online.

Significance Of It: The attack was a protest against the addition of BattlEye’s anti-cheat software in GTA online.

GTA And Red Dead Online DDOS Attack

A week after the addition of BattlEye anti-cheat service in GTA online, the game has faced severe DDOS attacks along with Red Dead Redemption Online.

As Spotted By CyberInsider, the DDOS attack resulted in the disruptions of the online servers of the game, impeding the online world of GTA and Red Dead Redemption 2.

The story was further detailed by an X user, @morsmutual_ on X, saying that there will be more DDOS attacks on the servers, which is a potentially alarming situation for Rockstar. The hacker used a malware BotNet malware to disrupt Rockstar Servers. Furthermore, another attacker has also hacked BattlEye’s website.

MMI X Post About GTA Online DDOS

However, Rockstar has started combating this threat, yet there has not been full clearance until now. As GTA online is the most successful live service title for Rockstar, it will fix the issue as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that Rockstar’s inclusion of BattlEye’s anti-cheat caused one more issue, which is the unavailability of the online world on Steam Deck.

Although GTA 5 offline can still be playable on Steam Deck, the online is listed as unsupported in Steam Deck. So, it’s disappointing for Steam Deck users because GTA online is the most playable mode because the offline mode is a decade old.

So, we suggest that Rockstar should do a workaround to resolve the issue of unplayable multiplayer mode on Steam Deck.

Nevertheless, Rockstar is also protecting GTA 6 from hacker attacks. In 2022, Rockstar suffered a massive Attack, leading to GTA 6’s big leaks of around 90 footage. Hence, the company is in a struggling position against hackers.
