Crux Of The Story
- FromSoftware is not planning for Elden Ring 2; however, there will be releases related to the IP.
- This means there might be a prequel, spin-off, or another expansion for the title.
- Meanwhile, there are also multiple projects in the pipeline of various genres directed by Miyazaki and others.
FromSoftware games are always a hit. Recently the studio announced Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which was one of the biggest expansions in gaming history, surpassing the likes of Witcher DLC.
However, what’s next after the expansion? While there are previous reports that the company is working on multiple projects, it has now been confirmed by the director Hideki Miyazaki in an interview following the PlayStation Awards.
In the interview conducted by Game Watch, the director was asked whether they would continue working on Elden Ring or if the expansion was the end of this title. While there is no current development of Elden Ring 2, it does not mean that the IP has ended, as there will be more related to it.
However, the director didn’t specify what will be forthcoming for Elden Ring. If there is no Elden Ring 2, that means there could be a spin-off or a prequel.
Furthermore, fans will see more content from FromSoftware in various genres directed by Miyazaki and others, so multiple projects are in the pipeline. The interviewer asked whether these genres would be sci-fi or fantasy, and the director said it is too early to reveal anything. This means that FromSoftware is stepping into other genres, which is pretty interesting since the studio always brings something exceptional.
“There are multiple projects running and a variety of genres,””Some of them are under my direction and some are directed by someone other than myself,
