Remedy’s Alan Wake 2 is considered a phenomenal horror title of 2024. However, despite being a great title, the game struggles to recoup its development costs as it took that title over a year to recover its costs. However, Remedy’s new financial report now highlights that Alan Wake 2 has finally started getting royalties, which means that the game is now earning profits.
Meanwhile, after the previous 1.3 million mark being Remedy’s fastest-selling title, it has now surpassed the 2 million sales milestone. Remedy has worked quite well to support the game’s sales in the long run as Alan Wake 2 gets a DLC, The Lake House. Also, it was released as an enhanced PS5 pro title. Moreover, the physical copies are started for sale.
Hence, with all those efforts, Remedy finally sees a profit on the title by the end of 2024. Given that the developmental and marketing costs were the highest in the title from the studio, around €7m (£58m), it took over a year to generate such revenue to recover the budget.
All in all, despite such a high budget, Remedy focused on every aspect of the title and because of that, the budget became recoverable.
Alan Wake 2 was released back in October 2023 across all platforms, and it was passed for its various aspects. Visuals were considered one of the best in the year, whereas the plot as a detective thriller was really a great thing, and the universe connection of the game with Control makes it more immersive.
That said, Remedy has now confirmed that Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake and FBC: Firebreak have entered into full production and Control 2 is to enter full production this month.
