Xbox has already described their future hardware plans with the next-gen console and a handheld. While the handheld is not yet announced, the discussion of it is already going on. Today, former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden dives in and puts some suggestions for Xbox for its handheld.
In an interview with Destin, Shawn Layden said that, given that Xbox has big companies like Activision Blizzard under its umbrella, it benefits from creating first-party exclusives for its handheld.
“Microsoft controls a large mobile phone game company that they can create some first-party content exclusive to a handheld device”.

This will greatly help the Xbox handheld to become a successful product, as it is very tough for a handheld to grow without any potential exclusive content because there are already many popular handhelds available in the market, including Steam Deck, Asus Rog, and others.
Activision Blizzard already has a dominant position in the mobile gaming market because it has popular games like Candy Crush Saga. So, Xbox can use the company to produce exclusive mobile games for its handheld.

Furthermore, the former boss said that Xbox can also explore potential partnerships with different mobile gaming platforms and stores to ease the process of getting into the mobile gaming audiences.
It should be noted that Shawn Layden is the person who always emphasizes that content is the key to success in hardware in this modern era, unlike chasing technical advancements given the leaps are not much significant now.
That said, there are already reports that Xbox is looking to get into the mobile gaming industry as well because of the market’s larger audience, and Xbox is also looking to launch its own mobile gaming store.
Hence, the former PlayStation boss’s views look rational, and maybe Xbox is considering something similar for its handheld. However, until an official statement, we should keep all these things as assumptions.
