Hazelight Studios, the acclaimed studio for its titles, including It Takes Two, has released its new title, Split Fiction, on March 6, 2025. Upon release, the title has not disappointed developers from its reception, as it has gathered thousands of players on Steam.
However, it has yet another record: It surpassed the highly successful launch of Monster Hunter Wilds and became the first Steam top-seller title. Meanwhile, it has disappointed its players as it has reached overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, which is really hard to get, and most of the titles fail in that.

If we look at Monster Hunter Wilds sales milestone, it has become the fastest-selling Capcom title, selling over 8 million units in just 3 days. So, it is really impressive to see that Spil Fiction surpasses even such high-success releases on Steam sales charts.
While Hazelight has not published a sales report for Split Fiction, we can expect that it will be easy to sell millions of copies within a week.
It’s worth noting that Split Fiction has a peak of around 250k players on Steam, whereas Monsters Hunter Wilds has a peak of 2 million players. While Split Fiction still cannot come close to the sales of Monster Hunter Wilds, this title might get a decent amount of sales.
All in all, Split Fiction’s action adventurer journey of Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster was memorable enough, and most people give it 10/10 because of its breathtaking visuals, co-op gameplay, unique art design, engaging story and action scenes, and much more.
