Esports gaming has millions of players base, and the competitions are really challenging. While many platforms host these competitions, one of the prominent ones, Start.gg, hosts Esports competitions like Tournaments, leagues, and others for prominent Esports titles, including Rocket League, Smash Bros, and Pokemon.
However, today, it is revealed that Xbox, which was helping Start.gg in its growth as its subsidiary, has put its hands off from the platform.
Start.gg announced this in their medium post, showing gratitude to Microsoft and Xbox for their unwavering support in enhancing their online presence and capabilities. There were the words of the platform
We’re incredibly thankful to Microsoft and Xbox for the years of support. Together, we’ve enhanced our online presence and capabilities, bringing you the best tournament platform for communities like Super Smash Bros, Rocket League, and Pokémon.

The company announced its independence and vowed to continue the platform, improving more and staying as a prominent Esports Platform. Meanwhile, it is now implementing registration fees for paid registrations to sustain long-term growth and health, given it will now stand on its own feet without any support.
It’s worth noting that Microsoft owned Smash.gg in 2020 and later rebranded it to Start.gg in 2022. After five years of partnership, the company is now fully independent. We congratulate the company for standing on its own feet and hope that the company will produce some worthy changes in the future.
