Crux Of The Story
- An MTN report says that Horizon MMORPG has been canceled.
- However, NCsoft is still hiring for an animator whose requirements closely resemble that it is Horizon MMORPG.
- So, the cancellation of the project still remains a big question.
Sony’s live service projects strategy doesn’t seem to work, as we previously reported that it has canceled 8 live service games including the recent Bend and Blueprint God of War live service game. However, today another report surfaced online, which suggests that one more live service project is canceled. MTN reported that the Horizon MMORPG named Project H from NCsoft was canceled at the end of 2024, and the team has shifted from it.
However, what is interesting is that we found a job listing that describes the project is still alive.

We develop a next-generation MMORPG with the theme of hunting and survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Use well-known existing IP to develop PC/mobile cross-platform.
Listing Says
Looking at the details of this Ncsoft Animator job listing, the point MMORPG of an existing IP is highly suggestive that it is Horizon MMORPG, which is codenamed Project Skyline. However, until the official confirmation from Sony or NCSoft, we should take leaks with a grain of salt.
A LinkedIn post also revealed that this project has been in development since 2021, and it was the first collaboration between NCsoft and Sony. Sony chose NCsoft because it already has expertise in MMORPG since it has developed Guild Wars. So, It is a great chance for both companies for good terms if this project survives.
It’s worth noting that this project has never been announced if it is scrapped, we will not see any cancellation report from Sony, and if it survives, we might see an announcement.
After the leaks of the project, Horizon fans were highly excited about it, such reports will leave a confusion whether to wait or consider it as turned down.
Anyhow, there is also a Horizon Multiplayer title from Guerrilla in development, which was revealed via job listing, and it was reported that it will be released in 2025. So, it is worth waiting to see what is the state of the project. However, until an official announcement fans should not show excitement as one by one live service projects are turning down.
