After the successful launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 6, the next Call of Duty is highly anticipated, and everyone is looking into every leaked detail of the upcoming game. Today, we have found something that unveils something very big. Call of Duty 2026 focuses highly on destruction and aims to feature the best destruction system ever in the franchise.
This was revealed via the Activision job listing for Senior VFX Destruction Artist. Activision is looking for a developer to work on the destruction system for the next Call of Duty title. In the job listing description, Activision asks the developer to work on the destruction so that the title should have the most realistic destruction system.
It’s worth noting that this job listing is from Sledgehammer Games, so it is likely that Call of Duty 2026 will feature this highly renovated destruction system.
Call of Duty titles are mostly arcade-like focuses, mostly on fast-paced action. However, this new title is changing the direction of the franchise. Previously, this approach was adopted by EA as it is also looking to feature a highly renovated destruction system in the next Battlefield game. The leaked playtest videos of the title reveal that EA has done exceptionally well in this system, as the destruction found in these leaks was really incredible.
We believe that realistic destruction in FPS titles adds great interest since fast-paced combat with bullets, RPGs, and grenades causing massive destruction really feels satisfying to the eyes, enhancing gameplay and cinematic experiences. If the next Call of Duty includes a polished destruction system, it will surely get a massive reception for the feature.
Call of Duty has already included destruction up to some extent in titles, including Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 and others. So, the next Call of Duty will have a much more professionally crafted destruction system with highly accurate physics-based destruction, more destructible environmental elements, more realistic explosions, and much more.
That said, according to leaks, Call of Duty 2026 will be Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 and will be released on the next-gen Xbox console, unlike Call of Duty 2025, which will be released on the last-gen Xbox consoles as well.
