Crux Of The Story
- Assassin’s Creed Black Flag became a highly anticipated remake because of the recent leaks.
- While previous reports suggested that with Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ delay, it might be pushed into 2026.
- However, it appears Ubisoft has started the playtest of the title, which hints that it will still be released sometime in 2025.
Ubisoft after the recent failures like Skull and Bones has its only savior, which is the Assassin’s Creed franchise. While the latest title Assassin’s Creed Shadows is scheduled to release on March 20, 2025, there is also anticipation for a remake of the highly liked pirate title Assassin’s Creed Black Flag.
Today, an intriguing insight has arrived. A user named Assassin’s Creed Interface claimed that Ubisoft Research Labs has distributed playtest surveys mentioning Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. This suggests that Ubisoft is now looking to playtest the remake.

Previously, it was claimed that due to Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ delay, it could be pushed to 2026. So, this report means that the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake release is not too far and Ubisoft is still looking to release it in 2025. However, the game is not yet announced, so until then, take these slight hints with a grain of salt and wait for the official confirmation.
As per the MP1st report, the game is built on the Anvil engine, which all the Assassin’s Creed games are built on, unlike other AAA titles that use Unreal Engine 5.
Moreover, the project also looks innovative, as Ubisoft adds new combat mechanics, such as a blocking system inspired by Soulslike games and other renovations in stamina, stealth, archery, and others. Meanwhile, there will also be ecosystems around wildlife, which would give the open world a realistic feel.
Given Assassin’s Creed Black Flag was one of the greatest pirate games of all time, the anticipation for the remake is sky-high. If these reports prove reliable, we will see the new pirate journey this year.
