Crux Of The Story
- GSC Game World finally released Stalker 2 on November 20.
- Although the game is praised for many impressive works, it was in a completely broken state in the review samples.
- However, it was fixed immensely in day zero patching while it still has a few issues, and it is expected to be fixed in the first patch.
GSC Game World survival horror post-apocalyptic title is finally released on November 20 after going through developmental hurdles due to covid pandemic and the Ukraine and Russia conflict. Although it is worth appreciating the developers for completing the development amidst such issues, the game review sample was plagued with issues.
According to Digital Foundry, the Stalker 2 review sample was broken because of issues like frame time spikes surging to 80MS during walking. The game feels like playing with half FPS on the Xbox console because of frame time issues. For the Xbox console, the title looks completely broken in the review period; however, the PC version was slightly better.
Furthermore, there were gameplay bugs, as firing didn’t have any sound and corpses standing in front of you randomly. It’s really disappointing to see, given review codes are for pointing out missteps. If they are surrounded by such unpolished issues, they would not point out the critics properly.
Meanwhile, it yielded negative reviews about the product, leading to low scores on Metacritic, so the developers had to playtest the title and then produce a playable product for reviews.
However, the released version was vastly different from the Stalker 2 review sample because the developers fixed many issues in the day zero patch. Now, the game is being praised for beautiful open-world settings, NPC AI, gunplay, and others.
Still, Stalker 2 has performance issues, especially with the CPU end, and there are still bugs, crashes, and many more. However, the developers promised to fix all those issues with the first patch.
Despite all those, the title has found immense success as it has sold a million copies in just two days, impressing many people.
