We have made an interesting discovery in Sony’s backend. The nostalgic Sony FPS IP Resistance was recently renewed in Europe. While we can not say anything official, this can take us to think that Sony might consider reviving this IP.

Although we recently reported a leak that Sony is looking to revive classical IPs, this latest renewal might be related to that leak. Meanwhile, Sony also cancelled live service projects, including the God of War live service from Bluepoint, and it was planning to figure out the next project from Bluepoint.
Given that Bluepoint make remasters and remakes, many fans want a remaster of Resistance. Hence, we might see the fans’ hopes come true. However, we suggest taking this with a grain of salt.
Insomniac Games debuted the Resistance franchise in 2006 with Resistance: Fall of Man. It was PS3 Biggest Release and the game received acclaim, including nominations for the PC World Gamers Award and the VGX Award for Critic Choice.
The other releases were Resistance 2, Resistance: Retribution on PSP, Resistance 3, and the last one, Resistance: Burning Skies for the PlayStation Vita, which was released in 2011. Since then, the franchise has been abandoned.
While Microsft has bigger shooters like Call of Duty, Sony could use this franchise to get at least some good shooters in its catalogue. Therefore, if we see the Resistance Trilogy Remaster coming true, it will be a great surprise.
Currently, as per the official announcements, Insomniac is working on Marvel Wolverine; however, the release date is still unknown, but the reports say it will launch in the fall of 2026.
