Obsidian Entertainment could be planning something big as a veteran of the studio who has developed an exceptional RPG, Fallout New Fegas has rejoined the studio yesterday. John Gonzalez joined Obsidian as creative director and announced its return in his LinkedIn. He returned to Obsidian Entertainment after 14 years.
While Fallout has a great fanbase, Fallout New Vegas has a different level of recognition, given it is one of the best titles of the franchise and counted in the list of greatest RPGs of all time. Although Gonzalez returning at Obsidian could bring hopes of Fallout New Vegas 2 given he was the lead writer of Fallout New Vegas, the veteran already made it clear in Linkedln that is not the game we are planning.
However, we could still conclude that Obsidian is planning something big maybe an highly sophisticated RPG and that’s why the studio calls experts like Gonzalez. Gonzalez works include Fallout New Vegas, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Horizon Forbidden West.
That said, while nothing can be said this early still have high hopes that Gonzalez will create something exciting given his past work was exceptional.
Obsidian Entertainment is currently posing for Avowed, a fantasy RPG filled with magical abilities , and it is scheduled to release on February 18. We recently reported that the studio is hearing fans’ feedback as Avowed will have performance mode On Series X, leaked by a Leaker.
Apart from Avowed, Obsidian is also working on The Outer Worlds 2, which is slated for late 2025 and John Gonzalez’s project could be the next one after Outer Worlds 2.
All in all, we are very excited about Gonzalez’s next project, and we are looking forward to some official words from Obsidian about the project.
