343 Industries Halo is a big name in the FPS shooter genre. However, the franchise has not had new games for a while, so everyone is looking for any update about the development of a project from 343 Industries.
While not official, there have been some leaked updates on the development status of Halo games. RebsGaming, a renowned insider, says that Halo has two games in development. The long-rumoured Halo multiplayer title, Project Ekur, will be the first one to arrive, and the other Halo Combat Evolved Remake will follow it.
Project Ekur was a rebranded name of Project Takanta, which was developed by 343 Industries; however, later, it was shifted to a Certain Affinity and thought to be cancelled. However, the insider puts hope in its live status and says it will be the next Halo game to be released. It is rumoured to be a Multiplayer Battle Royale Game development in Unreal Engine 5.
Rebs says that Project Ekur’s dedicated testing services were discovered in June 2024 via Grunt Api.
On the other hand, Halo Combat Evolved Remake is also a long-rumoured game that was cited by various leakers as being in development, and some even claimed that it would be released as early as this year. So, Reb’s sources suggest that the remake started pre-production in January 2024 via some LinkedIn profile confirmation. Interestingly, it has now entered the production phase, as suggested by an active wave of hiring at 343 Industries.
According to previous Tom Warren reports, Microsoft is looking to port this Remake to PS5 as well. It’s worth noting that Halo Combat Evolved, released in 2001, was one of the franchise’s classic titles, and 343 even remastered the game in 2011 with Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary.
However, the same Insider, Rebsgaming, claimed that Microsoft would announce a Halo Game this year. So, connecting this new report with the previous one, it appears that the Halo Multiplayer title will be announced this year.
All in all, Fans are impatiently waiting for a new Halo title, so even these small leaks will bring some anticipation for them.
