A new FPS hero shooter from Netease Subsidiary Bad Guitar Studio has launched recently. While this genre has recently had flops like Concord, this title, taking inspiration from Valorant, has done a good job of getting into the genre. The statistics prove that the title is worth the title, as Fragpunk has surpassed 100,000 players on Steam. Meanwhile, those who have played the title are satisfied with it, as it has mostly positive reviews on Steam.

Fragpunk had 60k players on launch day because it was not marketed much and was the studio’s first title. However, the post-launch reception helped drive more audience to the game, as it has now reached almost twice the number of players on launch day. Given that it is free-to-play, it might get more concurrent players to peek in the future.
Moreover, players have posted their thoughts on the game on Steam, and out of 11k reviews, it has around 70% positive reviews, suggesting that it is not a mediocre shooter and has something special.
Fragpunk is a 5v5 team-based multiplayer shooter game from Netease. What makes it stand out is its fast-paced, addictive gunplay and unique card-based system that makes a match strategic rather than solely relying on gunplay skills.
While the initial reception is good enough, developers have to plan a roadmap for the title to retain the player’s base, given that it is a live service game. Free-to-play titles like the Finals initially created good hype but failed to hook players for a long time. Hence, it lost relevance very soon.

This is Netease’s second worthwhile addition to the FPS genre. The previous one was Marvel Rivals, which also resonated with a massive audience, getting over 600k players on Steam. What’s interesting is that both are free-to-play fun FPS shooters.
