Callisto Protocol Studio New Unreal Engine 5 Title Will Incorporate Co-op

Callisto Protocol New Game

Crux of The Story

  • Striking Distance Studios, the developer of Callisto Protocol, is now working on a title based on Unreal Engine 5.
  • A job listing reveals that this title will have both solo and Co-op gameplay experience.
  • It’s too early to conclude anything from this move, but Co-op has turned out great for titles like Dead Space 3.

While we already get reports of Striking Distance Studios, the developer behind Callisto Protocol, is working on a new unannounced title based on Unreal Engine 5. Now, there is some more information regarding this project, as we found out that the studio is incorporating Co-op into the game.

This information comes via a job listing on the studio’s official website. The level designer intern job listing focused on the multiplayer Co-op understanding for the job. This means that Striking Distance Studios is now changing the direction of their next project, as Callisto Protocol didn’t have a Co-op. Moreover, the job listing also mentions solo objective-based missions, so there will be both options in the project.

Since the project is in the early phase, we will see more details in the future, so it’s interesting that the studio is taking a different approach to it.

Anyhow, it is worth noting that Dead Space 3 also had Co-op mode, which worked very well since playing with your friends adds more flavor to the gameplay experience.

Nonetheless, Callisto Protocol was one of the ambitious titles and spiritual successors of Dead Space; however, the reception was not up to par, and it became a failure of the studio. Following this failure, the studio faced layoffs, and it was assumed that the studio would die.

However, it’s good to know that Studio is still confident and looking for a title that will live up to people’s expectations.

Nevertheless, Callisto Protocol also improved for PS5 Pro as the new enhanced update for the game supports 8K 30 FPS or 4K 60 FPS, so there is good reason to replay the title.
