While there are many good RPGs in 2024, like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Black Myth Wukong, Dragon Dogma 2, and others, Don’t Nod also released its ambitious title, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, on February 21, 2024.

The game was received well on Steam with mostly positive reviews until now; however, how the game performs sales-wise was yet to be revealed by the studio.

However, now the company Don’t Nod has released its financial report for H1 2024, and in this report, the company highlighted the low sales of the game, not living up to the par of the company’s expectations.

Why it matters: This suggests that for a game to perform, it should be unique and focus on all aspects, as we saw in the case of Black Myth Wukong.

Don’t Nod Financial Activity In The first half of 2024

Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden was many folks’ favorite; however, the game performed below the company’s expectations, which is very surprising to know since the game was received quite well on Steam.

The game was praised for its story, beautifully portraying the New World in the late 1600s with a dark story above the story. The game’s graphics and atmosphere were also a plus point for the game.

However, the place where the game lacked is its combat, as many agreed that it is mediocre because of the lack of variety of enemies.

Looking at the Steam players, count the performance of the game. We can predict that the sales of the game are not impressive on PC since the game peaked at only 3.7k players; however, the recent report now clarifies that the game didn’t even perform on other platforms like Xbox and PlayStation.

Yet, the game company didn’t confirm the exact sales figures for the game: however, its too low that’s for sure.

Needless to say, the failure of such a high budget project will put the company into a difficult situation financially. Elsewhere, in the report, the company also mentioned the failure of small projects like Jusant, an action puzzle climbing game.

Furthermore, the company is now focusing on its next adventure project, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage releasing on February 18, 2025. As in the report, the company looks confident about the success of the project.
