While PlayStation had failures like Concord, the company has delivered an exclusive Astro Bot that became the great title of 2024 and won Game of the Year. Today, we have discovered that the game has hit another milestone.
Previously, PlayStation reported the sales of Astro Bot, which were 1.5 million units in two months. Now, Astro Bot has achieved a million units more and surpassed 2.3 million units. The sales figures are according to Alinea Analytics, which is considered a reliable data provider in the gaming industry. However, these are not official figures, so don’t take them as 100% reliable.
Meanwhile, Astro Bot is also dominating the PlayStation sales charts even though it was released six months before, suggesting that the game has not aged much. According to Circana, in January Astro Bot was in the top 10 sellers in the United States, and now it is the #3 best-selling physical game of the week in the UK and also the #4 best-selling physical title in France.

If the game continues to sell at that pace, it might eventually hit 5 million units in a year, which will be a great milestone for a PlayStation title. Marvel’s Spider-Man sold 1.5 million units, so Astro Bot has already surpassed the likes of it.
It’s worth noting that it is an AA title, so 2.3 million unit sales for a small budget is a big achievement, as it profits high in comparison with larger-scope titles with big budgets.
That said, the Astro Bot director, after the title’s success, prioritizes making smaller games, arguing that quality is better than quantity. PlayStation has already announced that there will be five more DLCs for Astro Bot.
